That suits the person who keeps a proper pile of things beside the bed — two or three books at once, a tablet, a wash bag, the small clutter you would rather not see. The height, 550mm, is right beside a bed frame and a little low beside a deep divan, so measure to the top of your mattress. The top is 450 by 400mm, which is a lamp and one other thing.
