Then hang one generous pendant low over the centre to pull everyone into the same pool of light. That’s the whole secret to a room people linger in.

A restful bedroom is mostly about texture and light, not money. Start with an upholstered bed — soft linen instantly makes a room feel quieter and warmer than a hard frame ever will.
