Who it’s for

At 870mm wide this is a full-sized chest, not a slim one, so it wants a clear stretch of wall — an alcove, the space beside a door, the gap between a window and a wardrobe. The three drawers are all the same size, 194mm deep inside, which makes it a bulk piece: jumpers, jeans, folded bed linen. If you want somewhere to keep small things apart from big things, this is the wrong chest, because everything shares the same box. The top sits at 870mm, higher than a bedside table, so a lamp on it reads at standing height.

Measure first

Width is the number that catches people out here, because 870mm is wider than it looks in a photograph.

The carcass is only 450mm deep, so it goes through a standard doorway without being turned. The drawer box is 430mm deep and comes that far into the room. Leave the best part of a metre of clear floor in front of it, and in a room where the bed is less than a metre from the wall you will be shuffling.

Living with it

A new drawer is stiffer than one that has been opened a thousand times, and the first fortnight is the stiffest part of it. That eases with use. Board and timber take up a little moisture in a damp autumn and give it back once the heating goes on, so a drawer that slides sweetly in August can drag slightly in December and be right again by spring. Keep the chest off a radiator wall if you can, wipe the black finish with a dry cloth rather than a spray, and do not load the top drawer with the heaviest things.

Delivery, assembly & aftercare

Allow around four weeks from the day you place it. We deliver across Cork and nationwide, or you can collect from the showroom at no charge, and we confirm the date with you before you pay anything.

It comes in a single box at 47kg gross, so plan on two people for the stairs. We do not publish an assembly note for this chest; email us before you order and we will confirm what has to be done in the room.

How much actually fits in one drawer?
Each drawer is 760 × 430 × 194mm inside. That is two stacks of folded jumpers side by side, with room to close the drawer over them.

Is there a shallow drawer for small things?
No. All three are the same, 194mm deep inside. Small items will need a box or a divider of your own.

Does it have to be fixed to the wall?
Yes. The anti-topple kit is included and it is meant to be fitted. In a house with small children a chest with three loaded drawers is a ladder, so this is the one job not to leave for later.

Can I get a hoover under it?
There is 172mm of clearance to the floor, which takes most upright and cylinder heads.

Is the white one the same chest?
Same size, same three drawers, same clearance. Only the colour is different.
