Arrives built, with a shallow top drawer for small things.

The Bibury 3 Drawer Chest is the widest three-drawer chest we list, at 930mm across and 870mm high, and it needs no assembly at all. It belongs to our Bibury range, made from MDF, rubber wood, oak, pine and rattan in a natural finish, and we can have it out for you to see at the Ballincollig showroom. Email info@mulberryhouse.ie for stock & delivery questions, any time now.

Who it’s for

What separates this from most chests of its size is that the drawers are not all the same. The top one is 150mm deep inside, the two below it are 200mm, so there is somewhere obvious for the small awkward things — underwear, socks, chargers, the contents of a bedside drawer that never had a bedside — and two proper deep drawers underneath for jumpers and bed linen. That makes it a good single chest for a main bedroom where one piece has to do all the folded clothes. Two things weigh against it: 930mm of width needs a genuine run of wall, and it sits on 110mm legs, lower than most, so a slim hoover head goes under it and a bulky upright one may not.

Chosen by Paul

Paul says: “It comes out of the box built. Two of you lift it, put it where it’s going, and the afternoon is your own again.”

At 35.4kg it is the lightest chest on this list, which is part of why that lift is straightforward.

What you’re getting

  • MDF, rubber wood, oak, pine and rattan, in a natural finish.
  • Three drawers in two depths.
  • Top drawer 850 × 350 × 150mm inside.
  • Middle and bottom drawers 850 × 350 × 200mm inside, each.
  • 110mm legs, giving 110mm of clearance to the floor.
  • No assembly required.
  • Anti-topple kit supplied, to be fixed to the wall.
  • One box, 35.4kg gross.

Measure first

930mm is a wide piece. Measure the wall first and the doorway second.

Dimension mm cm
Width 930mm 93.0cm
Depth 430mm 43.0cm
Height 870mm 87.0cm

Because it comes fully built, the whole 930mm travels from the front door to the room in one piece. Measure the landing and the turn at the top of the stairs, not just the bedroom. In the room, the drawer box is 350mm deep and comes that far out, so leave that plus standing room in front.

See it before you buy

The difference between a 150mm drawer and a 200mm one sounds like nothing written down and is obvious the moment you open both. That is a thirty-second job in person and impossible from a screen. We are at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968, seven days a week, no appointment needed, and you will not be rushed. We keep changing what is on display, so this chest may be up or it may be in the store room behind — either way, ask for it and we will get it in front of you, or bring one in within a few days. Living with it

Timber, board and rattan all live with the weather in the room. Through a damp autumn they take up moisture and give it back once the heating goes on, so a drawer that ran perfectly in September can feel a shade tighter in January and be right again by March. That settles. Give the drawers a few weeks of use before you judge them; new runners are always firmer than worn ones. Dust rather than polish, and email us if something is genuinely not behaving after a month.

Delivery, assembly & aftercare

You should allow about four weeks. We deliver across Cork and nationwide, or you can collect from the showroom at no charge. The delivery date is agreed with you before any payment is taken.

No assembly is required on this one. It arrives in a single box at 35.4kg gross, comes out built, and the only job left is fixing the anti-topple kit to the wall.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.

Questions people ask

Do I have to build it?
No. It comes out of the box assembled.

Why is the top drawer smaller?
It is 150mm deep inside against 200mm for the two below. The shallow one is for the small things that get lost in a deep drawer — socks, underwear, chargers, keys.

Will jumpers fit in the top drawer?
A couple of layers, yes. For a proper stack use the middle or bottom drawer, which give you 200mm of depth over the same 850 × 350mm floor.

How much clearance is under it?
110mm, on legs of the same height. Slim hoover heads go under it; a wide upright head may not.

Does it need to be fixed to the wall?
Yes — the anti-topple kit is in the box and is meant to be screwed to the wall. With children in the house it is the first thing to do, not the last.
