The Boho Boutique four-poster is the tall frame in the Boho range, in a black finish over mango wood, mahogany wood and MDF, made in 5′ king and 6′ super king. Its posts run to 2000mm, which changes a room far more than the floor space does. Who it’s for

This is a bed for a room with height to spare. At 2000mm to the top of the posts it wants a ceiling of at least 2.4m to leave air above it and room for a light fitting; under a sloped or dormer ceiling it will not stand at all. The king covers 1610 × 2110mm of floor and the super king 1910 × 2110mm, which needs a room wide enough that you are not edging past a post in the dark. There is only 140mm under the frame for anyone hoping to slide storage beneath it.

Measure first

Take the ceiling height first, then the floor. Depth is the length of the bed, and the 2000mm height is to the top of the posts, not the headboard.

The king takes a 150 × 200cm mattress and the super king a 180 × 200cm. Check the ceiling light too: a pendant hanging over the middle of the bed will meet a post or the top rail. The posts are the longest items coming through the front door, so measure the stair turn against a two-metre length.

See it before you buy

Height is what photographs flatten. On a screen this reads as an ordinary bed with corner posts; in a room it changes the shape of the space, and that is a decision to make standing beside it rather than in front of a screen. Living with it

A tall frame tells on itself. A four-poster is a long lever — a fixing at floor level that has moved a fraction shows as movement at the top of the posts, so a bed that felt solid on day one can develop a slight sway after a few weeks of being climbed into. That is bedding-in, not a fault. Tighten every bolt at three or four weeks, and again once the heating has been on a while, since solid timber gives a little in dry air. Do the top rail corners as well as the base.

Delivery, assembly & aftercare

Allow around four weeks. Delivery across Cork and nationwide, or collection from the showroom at no charge, with your date agreed before you pay.

Each bed comes in two boxes — 93.6kg for the king, 97.55kg for the super king — and a frame this tall is built in the room where it stands, since an assembled four-poster does not go through a doorway. Our sheet does not record the assembly detail for this one, so rather than guess we will confirm it in writing before your delivery date is set. The frame is sold without a mattress; if you need one, they are at /collections/mattresses.
