Two drawers of different depths, in black, 600mm high.
The Boho Boutique bedside chest is made in mango, mindi and mahogany with MDF, and finished black. It is 500mm wide, 400mm deep and 600mm tall, with two drawers that are deliberately not the same size inside. It is one of the Boho pieces we sell from the Ballincollig showroom, and the difference between the two drawers is obvious the moment you open them. Who it’s for
At 600mm this is one of the taller bedsides, which makes it the sensible choice next to a divan base with a decent mattress on top — the sort of bed where a 500mm bedside leaves you groping downwards in the dark. Beside a low frame it will stand proud of the mattress, which some people like and some do not. The top is 500 by 400mm, a genuinely useful surface: a lamp, a book and a glass will share it, where a 400mm-wide top will not. The two drawers split the job — 69mm of depth in one for flat things, 144mm in the other for everything else. Buy the pair if the room is symmetrical; the black gives a light room a hard edge to work against.
Chosen by Paul
Paul says: “Shallow drawer up top for the bits you lose, deep one below for the rest. Sounds obvious — it’s the reason this one works and a lot of others don’t.”
What you’re getting
- Mango, mindi and mahogany with MDF, black finish
- Two drawers of different internal depths
- 404 × 306 × 69mm in the shallow drawer

- 500 × 400mm top at 600mm high
- One box, 20kg — the heaviest bedside in the range
Measure first
Wider than most bedsides by 50mm, which is exactly the 50mm that makes a lamp and a book fit together.
| Dimension | mm | cm |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 500 | 50 |
| Depth | 400 | 40 |
| Height | 600 | 60 |
The drawer boxes are 306mm front to back, so around 330mm of clear floor in front is enough to open them fully. Measure the gap between your bed and the wall for the 500mm width before anything else — that extra 50mm is where this piece fails to fit in a narrow room. Height to the top of your mattress is the second measurement: 600mm suits a high bed.

Mixed timbers do not look the same in a photograph as they do in a room, particularly under a black finish, where the grain shows through in some lights and vanishes in others. It is worth putting a hand on one and pulling both drawers out. Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork (P31 W968) — seven days a week, no appointment, nobody watching the clock. The display gets moved round week to week, so if this one is not out when you arrive, ask: it is usually no further than the store room, and if it is not with us at all, a few days will have it in. Living with it
This is solid timber in the main, and solid timber moves. From the first cold week of the heating season you may see a joint tighten or a drawer that ran sweetly in September fit more closely in January; it eases back. Nothing needs to be done about it beyond leaving a little air around the piece and keeping it off a radiator wall. A black finish over natural grain shows dust and the odd fingerprint plainly — a dry cloth, not a wet one, and no household spray. Both drawers will loosen with use over the first month.

Questions people ask
Why are the two drawers different depths?
The shallow one is 69mm inside and suits flat things — a book, a charger, glasses. The deep one is 144mm and takes what will not lie flat. Both are 404 × 306mm in plan.
Is 600mm too tall beside my bed?
It depends entirely on your mattress top. Beside a divan set it is about right; beside a low frame it will stand above the mattress line.
Will a lamp and a book fit on the top?
Yes. At 500 × 400mm there is room for a lamp, a book and a glass, which is not true of the 400mm-wide bedsides.
Can I vacuum underneath?
We hold no clearance figure for this piece, so rather than guess: ask to see one, or email and we will measure ours for you.
How does it differ from the brown version?
Same dimensions and the same two drawer sizes. The brown one requires assembly; this one has no assembly position recorded.
