Who it’s for

The 1300mm under the rail is the fact that decides this. Shirts, jackets, trousers on a bar hanger and dresses to the knee all hang clear. A full-length coat or a long dress will not — it will sit on the base and crease. At 800mm wide it is one person’s hanging, or a well-behaved spare room, not a shared main bedroom. Black and open-fronted, it reads as a piece of furniture rather than something that disappears into the wall, which suits a dressing corner or a room with pale walls and little else in it. It suits a tidy person. Everything on that rail is on permanent display.

Measure first

Two numbers matter here: 1740mm standing in the room, and 1300mm inside for your clothes. They are not the same measurement and people mix them up.

Check the ceiling where it will stand, and check the landing and the turn at the top of the stairs before delivery day. Because it is assembled in the room, leave yourself enough clear floor to build it flat and tilt it upright. No door swing to allow for, which is a genuine advantage in a narrow room.

See it before you buy

Black timber is hard to judge from a screen — grain shows through it differently in daylight than it does in a photograph, and mango, mindi and mahogany are not uniform woods. Living with it

These are solid timbers and they move a little with the heating season. In a dry winter a joint may show a hairline gap or give a small tick; in milder weather it closes again. That is timber behaving normally and it is not a fault. The black finish is the honest bit: it shows dust and fingermarks sooner than a mid-brown would, so it wants a dry cloth over it more often, and with no doors in front, the shoulders of your clothes need the same attention. Keep it off a radiator wall if you have the choice — direct dry heat is what makes timber move most.

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom at no charge, and the date is confirmed with you before payment.

How long a garment will hang in it?
1300mm of drop. Anything longer than that will rest on the base.

Is there a shelf?
The sheet lists a hanging rail and the internal opening. No shelf is specified, so do not order it expecting one.

Does it come with an anti-topple kit?
None is listed with this piece. Email us before ordering if wall fixing matters to you — it is worth a conversation in a room a child uses.

Will 500mm of depth take a normal hanger?
Yes. A standard hanger is around 440mm across, so it sits square with a little to spare.

How many boxes and what does it weigh?
One box, 29kg gross.

Does black show dust?
It does, and on an open frame there is no door hiding it. If that would bother you, this is the wrong finish.
