The Boho Retreat four-poster is the brown-finished tall bed in the Boho range, built from mango, mindi and mahogany with MDF, in 5′ king and 6′ super king. It carries the same 2000mm posts as its black sister frame but noticeably more weight in the timber. Who it’s for

The king covers 1610 × 2110mm and the super king 1910 × 2110mm, and both rise to 2000mm at the posts, so the room needs floor and it needs air. The mixed brown timbers suit a room with warm floors and older furniture already in it. It is the wrong bed for a small second bedroom, and the wrong bed for anyone who will want to move it on their own — at 100kg for the king and 106kg for the super king, this frame stays where it is built.

Measure first

Depth is the length of the bed; height is to the top of the posts, not the headboard. Take the ceiling as seriously as the floor.

The 5′ takes a 150 × 200cm mattress, the 6′ a 180 × 200cm. The super king at 1910mm wide is the size to think hard about: a 3.4m room leaves roughly 745mm each side, but a 3m room leaves about 545mm and you will be turning sideways at the end of the bed. Weight matters on the way in too — a 106kg bed in two boxes means two heavy boxes, and a tight stair turn is where to plan for that.

See it before you buy

Mixed timbers do not photograph truthfully. Mango, mindi and mahogany take a finish differently from one another, so the grain reads varied in daylight where a product shot flattens it into one brown. Living with it

Expect this frame to settle. Solid timbers of different densities sit down onto one another over the first weeks of real use, so bolts that were fully tight at assembly commonly want a further quarter-turn once the bed has been slept in. Go round the whole frame with the key at about three weeks, and check the slats are still square in their housings while you are down there. None of it is a fault; a heavy timber bed that never needed a nip up would be the unusual one.

Delivery, assembly & aftercare

Allow around four weeks from ordering. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collect from the showroom at no charge; the date is confirmed with you before any payment is taken.

Assembly is required and the bed arrives in two boxes. Build it in the room it will live in — with posts at two metres it does not go through a door assembled, and at 100kg or more it is not something to shuffle across a landing afterwards.

It is a frame on its own, sold without a mattress. If you need one, they are at /collections/mattresses.
