The Chic 2 Door Wardrobe is the substantial piece in the Chic collection — 1190mm wide, 650mm deep and 2050mm tall, in mindi ash with veneered MDF, finished weathered. Two doors open onto an internal space measuring 1020 x 565 x 1690mm. Who it’s for

This is the one on this page that two people can genuinely share. 1020mm of internal width and 1690mm of internal height is a real wardrobe: full-length coats and long dresses hang clear with room over them. The 565mm of internal depth is the quiet advantage — a hanger sits fully square across it, so shoulders are not pressed against a back panel or turned at an angle. What it is not is a box room wardrobe. At 2050mm tall and 1190mm across it will dominate a small room, and it needs a ceiling and a stairs that can take it. In a decent main bedroom it does the job of two smaller wardrobes and looks less cluttered doing it.

Measure first

This is the piece on which measuring is not optional. Take the ceiling height where it will stand before anything else.

Assembled height is 2050mm, so a room with a low or sloped ceiling is out. Measure the landing, the doorway and the turn at the top of the stairs — at 650mm deep the boxes are bulky through a tight turn, and there are three of them. Allow roughly 600mm of clear floor in front of each door to open it fully, and keep the bed, a radiator and the bedroom door itself out of that arc.

See it before you buy

A weathered finish is hard to photograph honestly — the tone shifts board to board and changes under a warm bulb. Daylight, both doors open, and the weight of one of them on the hinge: that is what settles a wardrobe this size, and none of it comes across on a screen. Living with it

The weathered finish is deliberately uneven. Colour and grain vary from panel to panel, and a board that reads greyer than its neighbour is the finish doing what it is meant to, not a defect. Mindi ash is a solid timber and moves slightly with the heating season, so expect a small amount of seasonal give at the joints. The part worth attention is levelling: a 2050mm case with two tall doors has to sit dead level or the doors will not close flush against each other. Get it right at assembly with a spirit level, then check it again after a few weeks once it has settled into the floor. A small hinge adjustment at that point is routine.

Allow around four weeks. We deliver across Cork and nationwide, or you can collect from the showroom at no charge, and we confirm the date with you before you pay.

It requires full assembly and arrives in three boxes weighing 101.5kg in total. Build it in the room it is going to live in — assembled, it does not go through a standard door.
