The Chic Dressing Table is 1260mm across and only 450mm front to back, made in mindy ash and finished in the weathered colour. Who it’s for

The width is the reason to buy it. At 1260mm there is room for a mirror at one end, a lamp at the other and everything in between. The depth is the number that makes it work in a small room: 450mm sits tight to the wall and gives back the floor a deeper table takes. The top is 760mm from the ground — desk height, not counter height — so an ordinary dining chair, which usually sits around 450mm, is the right thing to pull up to it. It is not for anyone who needs deep drawers: the boxes are 65mm inside, which is jewellery, brushes, cables and paperwork, not folded clothes.

Measure first

Measure the wall, then measure the room in front of it. Both matter here.

A 1260mm run of wall is a long one in a box bedroom, and skirting or a door architrave will eat into it. In front, allow around a metre so a chair pulls back and someone can still walk past. The drawers come out 338mm and 313mm plus your hand. Check anything already on that wall — a light, a window board — against the 760mm top.

See it before you buy

A photograph will not tell you how a drawer runs or how the weathered grain reads under a bedroom light, and 65mm of drawer is a different thing in the hand than on a screen. Living with it

New furniture behaves like new furniture. Timber moves a little when the heating goes on in October and again when it goes off in April, so a drawer that slid sweetly in the showroom can feel tighter for a few weeks in a warm bedroom. That is normal, and it eases as the piece settles. Do not sand anything in the first month. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth rather than a wet one, and keep it off a wall directly above a radiator. The weathered finish is meant to show the grain, so boards vary in tone across the same piece.

Delivery, assembly & aftercare

Allow around four weeks. We deliver across Cork and nationwide, or you can collect from the showroom at no charge, and we confirm the date with you before you pay.

It comes in one box at 28 kg gross, which is a two-person lift up a stairs. The assembly position is not recorded on this piece — email us before you order and we will confirm what, if anything, has to be put together.

Is a seat or a mirror included?
No, neither. It is the table on its own.

What sort of chair suits it?
The top is 760 mm high, which is desk height, so a normal dining or bedroom chair around 450 mm seat height sits right at it. Anything bar height will be wrong.

Would it work outside a bedroom?
Yes. At 450 mm deep it makes a hall table, and at 760 mm it is a usable desk for anyone working in a small room.

What is the knee clearance under the top?
