Who it’s for

This is a chest for a person who sorts rather than piles. Nine drawers across 1150mm of wall means socks, underwear, T-shirts, gym kit and papers each get one to themselves. The limitation is real: every drawer is 120mm deep inside, which is fine for folded shirts and poor for bulky winter knitwear. If jumpers are the problem you are solving, a five-drawer chest with 200mm drawers is the right answer instead.

Measure first

Width and weight both need thinking about before this one comes up a staircase.

At 1150mm wide and 77.4kg in a single box, the route in matters as much as the room. Measure the landing and the turn at the top of the stairs. Inside the room, allow about 450mm clear in front of the face: the drawers run 344mm and you want to stand square to them. With only 50mm underneath, cleaning means moving it.

See it before you buy

Nine drawers is a claim; open them and it becomes a fact. How the narrow top three run against the six below, and how the natural oak reads under an ordinary light rather than a studio one — neither of those reaches you through a screen. Living with it

With nine drawers you notice sooner than usual that they do not all run identically at first. New runners bed in at their own pace over the first month, and a narrow 289mm drawer always feels different in the hand from a 467mm one — that is geometry, not a fault. Oak moves with the heating season, so expect a little tightening in a dry winter room and expect it to ease again. Fit the anti-topple kit on day one, before the drawers are loaded, because 77.4kg of chest plus nine loaded drawers is not something to be casual about.

It arrives as one box at 77.4kg gross, so clear the route before the van comes. Assembly is legs and feet only, and the anti-topple kit is packed with it.

Questions people ask

Are the nine drawers all the same?
No. The three across the top are 289 × 344 × 120mm and the six below are 467 × 344 × 120mm. The depth is the same throughout.

What are the small top drawers for?
Jewellery, watches, chargers, documents. At 289mm across they are too narrow for folded clothes, which is exactly why they are useful.

Will jumpers fit?
One or two folded flat. At 120mm inside this is not a chest for heavy knitwear, and we would rather say so now.

Is a wall fixing included?
Yes. The anti-topple kit comes with it and fixes to the wall — with nine drawers and small children in the house, fit it before you load it.

Can I clean underneath?
Only by moving it. There is 50mm of clearance and a hoover head will not fit.
