Coastal and Holiday Homes, Cork

Salt air, sandy feet and a full house in August. Paul plans holiday and coastal homes that are easy to live in and easy to leave, and he's in West Cork and East Cork every month.

  • Paul is in West Cork and East Cork every month
  • Plan it by video from wherever you live
  • Trusted local craftsmen for anything made to measure

A different brief from the house you live in

A holiday home has to take wet dogs and wellies, a crowd for a week and nobody for a month. It has to look right the moment you open the door after the drive, and it has to be easy to close up again on the last morning.

Coastal homes are one of Paul's favourite kinds of job. He loves the sea, the change of pace, and the chance to make something special for someone and their friends and family. The brief he comes back to is calm rooms, natural materials and nothing too precious to use.

What Paul plans for

  • Sea air and sandy feet. Fabrics that wash, rugs that can go out on the line, finishes chosen for a house by the water.
  • A full house. Seating and beds for the number of people who actually come to stay.
  • The door. Somewhere for boots, bags, wetsuits and beach things, so they stop at the hall.
  • Long evenings and dark weekends. Lighting for a bright July night and a wet weekend in November.
  • Ready before the season. Planned in the quiet months, finished before Easter or the summer.

West Cork

Kinsale, Clonakilty, Rosscarbery, Glandore, Union Hall, Skibbereen, Baltimore, Schull and the peninsulas. Old farmhouses, stone cottages and new houses with a view. Paul is in West Cork every month, so site visits fit around his trips.

East Cork

Crosshaven, Cobh, Ballycotton, Shanagarry, Garryvoe and Youghal. Seaside houses and weekend places an hour or so from the showroom in Ballincollig, and on Paul's list every month too.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be there?
No. The planning can run by video, and Paul or one of his craftsmen is at the house when someone needs to be. You're welcome to meet Paul there if you'd like to.
How often is Paul in West Cork and East Cork?
Every month. Site visits are planned around those trips.
When should I start for next summer?
Autumn and winter are the time. Planning takes a few weeks, and made-to-order furniture needs around four weeks after ordering, so starting early means the house is ready before Easter or the summer.
Do you furnish holiday lets too?
Yes. Lets have their own brief: hard-wearing, quick to clean and good in the photos. See holiday let interiors.
How is travel charged?
Travel beyond 30km of Ballincollig is quoted when you book.
