Iowa Dining Table Whitewash

A metre-wide whitewashed top, so the food can go in the middle.

Two metres of mango wood, seating six, in a distressed whitewash that lets the grain come through: that’s the Iowa Dining Table in Whitewash. It wants a kitchen-diner or dining room with space to walk round it, and the Iowa range includes a matching bench and sideboard; ask about them at our Ballincollig showroom.

Room to set things down

Having people over doesn’t have to mean a production. Mostly it means a table wide enough for the pot to go in the middle and the bread beside it, with nobody balancing a plate on their knee. At 100cm across, the Iowa has that middle strip and still gives six people their own place. The finish is already distressed, so a busy evening tends not to show the way it would on a lacquered top.

What’s in it

• Mango wood and mango wood veneer
• Distressed whitewash finish
• Six places
• Legs fit on at home; one box, 76kg packed

Measure the room first

Allow about 90cm behind every chair so people can pull out and sit down without a queue. For this table that’s a room of roughly 2.8m by 3.2m before anything else goes in.

What goes with it

Three ways people finish the room:

• Iowa Dining Bench in Whitewash along one side, chairs on the other
• Iowa 4 Door Sideboard in Whitewash for everything matching
• Iowa 4 Door Sideboard in Natural if you want the warmer wood against the white
• Upholstered chairs from our dining chairs to soften all that timber

Measure the wall where a sideboard would go before choosing between the two finishes; we can talk through the sizes with you in the showroom.

Your questions

How white is whitewash? Not paint-white. It’s a pale wash over the wood, with the grain showing through.

Will six really fit? Three a side, with about 66cm each along a 200cm edge.

Can the bench slide under? Yes. The Iowa bench is 160cm long and 45cm high; the table gives it 182cm between the legs and 66cm of height underneath.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
