Burley Side Table Black

Black oak, round top, and it fits through the door before it's a table.

The Burley in Black is a round side table, 40cm across and 50cm high, with an oak-veneer top on a solid oak base, finished in black so the grain still reads. The ends of the round legs show through the top, echoing its shape. At 50cm it's just above a sofa arm: the glass goes down, the lamp goes on, and when people come over it's the surface at the end of the sofa that keeps the coffee table clear.

Measure first. The good news is the box: it's packed flat, 99 × 100 × 9cm, so the stairs and the doorway won't be a problem. Measure instead the gap beside the sofa (you'll want 45cm or more for a 40cm top) and the arm height, so you know whether 50cm lands above it or level with it.

Is it solid oak?

The base is solid oak and the round top is oak veneer over MDF, all in a black finish that lets the grain show through.

How much assembly?

Full assembly, from a flat pack, with the tools supplied in the box. It's a small table and goes together in one sitting.

Why is the box so flat?

It's packed flat on purpose, 99 × 100 × 9cm, so it goes up any stairs and through any door before you build it.

Does the height suit a sofa?

50cm, which for most sofas is just above the arm. Close enough to set a glass down without thinking about it.

Are there other finishes?

Natural oak and walnut, in the same size, plus a matching coffee table in all three.
