“Will these be too big for our kitchen table?” It’s a sensible thing to wonder about a chair with a tall back. They come as a pair, two Darwin Dining Chairs in Brown, and the measurements are for one. Both are ordered through our Ballincollig showroom.

Each chair is 48cm wide, 61cm deep and 88cm tall, with the seat 47.5cm off the floor. At about 60cm of table edge per person, 48cm leaves room either side. The 61cm depth is the number to watch in a narrow kitchen: allow about 90cm behind the chair to pull it out. At a typical 75cm table that leaves about 27cm between seat and table top; measure the underside of your own table too, for knee room.

Getting the height right

Call in to the showroom at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968 and sit at a few of our tables and chairs to get the height right. If the Darwin is out that week, lean back in one and see whether the faux leather and the stitched back suit you; if not, we’ll talk you through it and order a pair in. Living with them

New upholstery settles a little in the first weeks, so a chair that feels firm on day one softens slightly with use; that’s normal. For spills, a soft damp cloth and no harsh cleaners is the safe approach with faux leather. On hard floors, felt pads under the metal legs save the floor and the noise.

Ordering and delivery

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay. Republic of Ireland only.

Yes, two chairs per order, packed in one box, around 17.3kg in all.

What table goes with them?
Browse our dining tables and check the height: a 75cm top gives the usual gap above a 47.5cm seat.
