The Datsun is a compact footstool in charcoal boucle on oak legs, and it comes out of the box ready to use. These are the questions a footstool this size tends to raise, answered from our showroom in Ballincollig.

How big is it?

On the compact side: 55.5cm wide and 47.5cm deep, so it sits beside an armchair without taking over the floor.

Nearly 25cm of that height is leg, so you see floor underneath it and it reads lighter than its size. A hoover gets under it, too.

Can it be an extra seat when the house is full?

It’s built and sold as a footstool, so that’s how we describe it. At 39.5cm high it sits lower than a dining chair, which means it won’t stand in for one at the table. If a visitor perches on it for a while when every chair in the front room is taken, that’s up to you; we sell it as somewhere to put your feet.

What’s it made of?

Oak legs, with a polyester boucle cover over foam and polyester fibre. Boucle is the looped, nubbly fabric. In charcoal it has depth when you’re close and reads as a soft, dark shape from across the room.

Does it need putting together?

No. It arrives in one box, fully made, at 8.9kg with the packaging, so one person can lift it and move it from the fire to the sofa.

Will a dark colour suit my room?

Charcoal sits comfortably with oak floors, grey sofas and cream walls; against a black sofa it will disappear a little. If the room is already on the dark side, the Husby Footstool in Willow Dusty is the paler option, on a lighter wooden base.

How do I keep boucle looking right?

Loops can catch on a buckle or a cat’s claw, so keep sharp things off it. For spills, blot rather than rub, and ask us how to clean it before you reach for any product.

How does delivery work?

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.
