Datsun Footstool Green Boucle

Green boucle, soft to the hand, in a room that never switches off.

The Datsun footstool in Green Boucle is the textured one of the family: a looped, nubbly polyester fabric over foam and fibre, standing on oak legs. It belongs in front of a sofa or tucked beside an armchair, and it’s part of the Datsun range at Mulberry House in Ballincollig.

A footstool for the whole day

In the morning it’s where someone sits to pull on their shoes. In the afternoon it holds a basket of washing waiting to be folded. Late at night it takes a pair of feet and a paperback. That’s most of what a footstool does, and this one does it in a colour that brings a bit of the garden inside.

The make-up

• Oak legs
• Green boucle upholstery (polyester)
• Foam and polyester-fibre filling
• One box, about 9.3kg packed

Room around it

Measure first: leave enough space between the footstool and the sofa to walk past without stepping over it. A quick run of the tape from the front of the sofa to the fireplace or coffee table will tell you.

Pairing it

Green is kind to the colours around it. Set it against the dark leather of the Datsun Armchair Antique Ebony for contrast, put it on an oak floor, or pair it with cream and stone-coloured cushions. The Datsun footstool also comes in Antique Brown, Antique Ebony and Sheepskin, if you’d like two that differ. The rest of the room is among our living room pieces. Decide which seat it’s going in front of, then measure that one.

What is boucle, exactly?
A fabric woven from looped yarn, which gives the surface its soft, knobbly texture. This one is polyester.

How dark is the green?
