Natural linen and shaped ash legs, two chairs to the set.

This is a set of two Elliot dining chairs in Neutral, a natural-coloured linen on shaped ash legs, and every figure below is for one chair. We sell them from our showroom in Ballincollig, and the width is the figure to look at first.

The figures, per chair

Dimension mm cm
Width 570 57
Depth 610 61
Height 840 84
Seat height 490 49

At 57cm wide, each chair uses nearly all of the 60cm of table edge usually allowed per person, so count your table before you count chairs: a 180cm table takes three a side comfortably, a 160cm table two. The 49cm seat is on the higher side; with a 75cm table there’s about 26cm between seat and table top.

What they’re made of

  • Shaped legs in ash
  • Seat and back upholstered in linen and polyester, in a natural shade
  • Two chairs to one box
  • About 20.7kg packed for the pair

Where they work, and where they don’t

They work at a table with room at the sides and nowhere to be for the afternoon. A wide seat and an upholstered back make a difference when lunch drifts on past four and the coffee comes out again.

If you’re fitting four a side at a narrow table, these are too wide; a slimmer chair like the Eton (47.5cm) will fit better. And with a table lower than 72cm, the 49cm seat may leave less knee room than you’d like, so check that height before anything else.

Visiting the showroom

The showroom is at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968, just outside Cork city. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm, closed Sundays; no appointment and nobody hurrying you. Much of our dining furniture is set out there; ask about the Elliot and we’ll say whether a pair is on the floor that week, or what’s closest to it. Get directions

Living with linen

A linen-and-polyester cover creases a little where it’s used and softens over time; that’s the linen in it, and part of why people choose it. A natural shade shows a red-wine drip sooner than a darker one would, so blot rather than rub, and ask us about care before using anything on it.

When they’d arrive

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Four quick answers

How is Neutral different from Slate Grey?
By the listing, only in colour: same ash legs, same size. Neutral is the pale, natural shade; Slate Grey is darker and more forgiving of a spill.

How many sets would I want for six?
Three sets, six chairs, at a table of at least 160cm.

Are they heavy to move?
Around 20kg packed for the two, so a single chair lifts out from the table easily.

What table suits them?
Pale oak, ash or a white top keeps things light; a dark table makes the linen stand out. See the dining tables.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
