Fabien Footstool Ochre

The Fabien footstool in Ochre is a compact upholstered piece on curved, gold-toned legs, from our Ballincollig showroom. In a kitchen-living room every centimetre is already spoken for, so size matters more than usual.

Numbers

At 35cm high it sits low, so hold a tape against your sofa or armchair seat before choosing. The 50cm by 42cm top takes a pair of feet or a child with a book, and uses about as much floor as a dining chair.

Where it earns its place, and where it won’t

In a kitchen with a sofa at one end, which is where people end up whether you plan it or not, it’s the extra seat by the sofa and the footrest at the end of the night. Ochre is a warm, earthy yellow: it sits well with oak, cream cabinets and dark green, and it’s a lift beside a grey sofa.

It isn’t a kitchen stool, though. At 35cm it’s nowhere near counter height; for the island, look at the Eton stools with their 65cm seats.

Calling to the showroom

The showroom is at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968, an easy run out from Cork city. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm; closed Sundays. Ochre is a colour to judge in daylight, so ask whether the Fabien is out that week; if it isn’t, we’ll describe the shade honestly and order it in. Get directions

Living with a warm colour

A fabric in a kitchen will meet the odd splash. Blot a spill straight away rather than rubbing, and ask us about care before reaching for any cleaner. New upholstery also settles: the top is a little firmer at first and gives more as it’s used.

Lead time

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Questions

Is it the same as the Mineral?
Same shape, size and legs; only the fabric colour differs.

How is the Brown Leather version different?
It’s upholstered in leather and stands on dark legs rather than gold-toned ones.

Is the lounger included?
No. The Fabien lounger is sold separately; ask us about it.

Is it heavy?
About 10.5kg packed, easy to move from the kitchen to wherever people have drifted.
