Grey, 220cm long, and honest about the room it needs.
The Forden in grey is a big rectangular table, 220cm by 90cm, listed to seat six to eight. If you’re measuring a smaller Cork home with a tape in one hand and a doubt in the other, start with the numbers.
| Dimension | mm | cm |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 2,200 | 220 |
| Width | 900 | 90 |
| Height | 750 | 75 |
| Between the legs | 1,340 | 134 |
What that means in a real room: add about 90cm on every side so chairs can slide out, and the Forden needs roughly 400cm by 270cm of clear floor. Push one long side against a wall on weekdays and the width required drops to about 180cm. With 134cm between the legs on each long side, two chairs fit there without anyone straddling a leg.
What it’s made of
- MDF, metal and wood, in a grey finish
- Rectangular top at a 75cm working height
- Assembly: legs only
- Arrives in one box weighing 52kg: two people and a clear hallway
Where it earns its space, and where it won’t
In a smaller home, a table this long has to do more than dinner. It makes most sense in an open-plan kitchen-dining room where it’s the one big surface: a half-done jigsaw at one end, the post in the middle, eight for dinner at the weekend.
Under about 3.5m of room length, the Forden is the wrong table: in a narrow room, a table this size leaves no way around it. The Hatfield Dining Table, at 150cm and seating six, is worth a look instead.
Tape it out first
A table this size is hard to judge on a screen. Mark 220cm by 90cm on your floor at home with masking tape and walk around it; then bring the measurements in and we’ll go over them with you beside whatever big tables are out that week. Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968. Open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm, closed Sundays; no appointment needed, and nobody will hurry you. Get directions
Day to day
Treat the top the way you’d treat any finished surface: a mat under hot dishes, coasters under glasses, a damp cloth and then a dry one. Keep it a little away from radiators, since wood and board both move slightly with the heating, and check the leg fixings after the first few weeks.

Common questions
Grey or black?
It’s about the room rather than the table. Grey is softer against pale floors and walls; black gives a sharper outline.
Is the top oak?
The materials we have for it are MDF, metal and wood rather than solid oak. If that matters, ask us to check the build before you buy.
Will it get through my door?
The top is 90cm wide and arrives with the legs off. Measure the tightest turn between your front door and the room, and tell us if it looks close.
How many people does it take to carry?
Two. The box weighs 52kg.
Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
