On a round table the dishes travel with the conversation, and nobody is stuck at the far end asking for the salt. The Hatfield Round is 110cm across in natural oak veneer, listed to seat four, and you can order it from our showroom in Ballincollig.

Will it fit in a kitchen-diner?

With 90cm all round for chairs, allow a space of roughly 2.9m by 2.9m. If one side sits against a wall during the week, you can manage with less, and pull it out when all four are sitting down.

Is four the real number?

Four is the number it’s listed for, and the one we’d stand over. The edge measures about 345cm all the way round, so each of four people gets roughly 86cm, enough to pass a dish without a collision.

What does round do that a rectangle doesn’t?

No corners, no head of the table, and everyone is the same distance from the middle. When bowls are going back and forth across the top, that matters more than you’d think.

What’s under the finish?

Oak veneer and oak with MDF and rubberwood, finished in natural oak.

Which chairs make up the four?

Two pairs of Hatfield chairs make four: the natural to match, or the smoked for contrast. For shelving alongside, the Hatfield Tall Open Display Natural keeps side plates close by.

What arrives?

One box of 21.5kg, with the legs to fit and nothing else to build.

Will the veneer mark?

A pot straight from the oven or a wet glass left overnight will mark any veneer, so mats and coasters earn their keep. Clean it with a well-wrung cloth, and give it a spot back from the radiator, since veneer moves a little with the heating.

Is it out in the showroom?

It may be; what’s out changes from week to week. Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide in the Republic of Ireland, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.
