Highgrove Demi Lune Table

Paul's pro tip

A demi-lune is the shape for a hall where people pass close: no corner to catch a hip, and the flat back sits tight to the wall. Centre it under a mirror, put the lamp to one side rather than the middle, and the curve does the rest. On a night with people over, the curved front is also easier to stand around with a glass.

The Highgrove is a half-moon console in mindi wood solids and veneers with a natural finish, 92.5cm wide, 40cm deep and 73cm high, with one drawer and 54.8cm clear beneath. The top carries marquetry with book-matched inlay, the drawer has bronze beehive pulls, and the legs are turned spindles with a lacquered finish. It's a traditional shape done lightly, and it weighs 18kg.

What is marquetry?

Thin pieces of wood veneer laid in a pattern on the top, here in tonal browns and book-matched so the grain mirrors itself across the centre.

How big is the drawer?

One drawer in a 40cm-deep table: keys, post, a torch. The bronze beehive pulls are the detail you notice.

Is there a darker version?

Yes. The Madison is the same half-moon in a dark wood finish with satin brass pulls, on its own page.

What's the assembly?

Legs and feet only. The anti-topple kit is in the box.
