Black slatted oak doors, a shelf inside, and the bottle out of sight until wanted.

The Holsen is a side table with storage: 45cm wide, 42cm deep and 55cm high, with two doors and a shelf behind them. The door fronts are slatted solid oak in a matt black finish that lets the grain show, the carcass is oak veneer over MDF, the legs are matt black metal and the handle is matt black solid oak. It is part of the Holsen collection of cabinets, flat-packed in one box with the tools included, and weighs 15.3kg built. At 55cm it sits just above a sofa arm, with the glass on top and the bottle, the coasters and the remote behind the doors.

Measure first

Two doors need room to open, so allow the swing in front of it: beside a sofa the doors face the room, not the arm. Most sofa arms sit around 45 to 50cm, so at 55cm the Holsen stands a little above, which suits a lamp. And it arrives flat, so the box is smaller than the table, which helps on the stairs.

Dimension mm cm

Depth 420 42
Height 550 55

How much assembly?

Full assembly from flat, with the tools in the box, so clear a bit of floor first.

Is the black painted on?

A matt black finish over solid oak slats and oak veneer, so the grain is visible through it rather than hidden.

What fits inside?

One shelf behind two doors. Think bottles standing up, a stack of coasters, the things you want near the sofa and not on it.

What goes with it

For an open table in the same black oak at the other end of the sofa, the Blair Round Side Table Black keeps the colour and loses the doors; the Wycombe Side Table Black is taller, with a spindle shelf.
