An office chair in charcoal fabric that doesn't look like one.

The McIntyre is a swivel office chair in charcoal grey polyester fabric with stitch detailing, on an iron base with nylon castors, 59.5cm wide and 59.5cm deep, with gas-lift adjustment from a 46cm to a 49cm seat and 78 to 88cm overall. It is a desk chair, and a padded one. It is also, at its lowest, a chair at dining height on wheels, which is useful on the night the table is one short.

Measure first. At the desk, the arms are 45.5cm apart and the seat is 45cm deep, so check the desk apron clears the arms at your chosen height. The chair turns in a 60cm circle. If it is going to roll through to the table, the lowest seat is 46cm; most dining tables take that, but check yours.

What is the upholstery?

A charcoal grey polyester fabric with stitch detailing on the padded seat and back, over foam on a plywood frame.

How much does the height adjust?

The seat moves from 46 to 49cm on a gas lift, and the overall height from 78 to 88cm. It is a modest range, enough to match a desk or a table.

Will it roll on carpet?

It is on nylon castors. On a deep carpet they roll less freely than on a hard floor; only you can tell on yours.

Does it need assembly?

Yes. The base, lift and seat come in one box of around 10kg.

What goes with it

The sibling is the McIntyre in Grey, a lighter grey on the same base.
