Onda 4 Door Sideboard

Four doors, one slatted wave, and 1.75 metres of top.

The Onda sideboard is 1,750mm wide, 450mm deep and 700mm high, with a slatted wave pattern running across its four doors. It belongs to the Onda range, alongside the Onda tables and chairs, from Mulberry House in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

The numbers

In a real room: 1.75 metres wants a clear wall of about two metres so it doesn’t look squeezed. At 70cm high it sits just under dining-table height, which makes the top a natural place to set a dish or a bottle down. The 20cm legs lift the body well clear of the skirting board and let you see (and clean) the floor underneath.

• Oak solids and veneers in a matt, walnut-coloured finish, with MDF and poplar
• A slatted wave pattern across the door panels
• Four doors, with one adjustable shelf behind each (four in all)
• Anti-topple kit supplied
• One box, about 80kg as packed; only the legs go on

Right wall, wrong wall

It’s at home along a dining-room wall behind the Onda Extending Dining Table or the Onda Oval, and just as happy in a living room under the television. Where it doesn’t work so well: with the shelf in the middle, each space is 23cm high, so wine bottles won’t stand upright unless you move the shelf. If upright bottles are the whole point, a drinks cabinet will suit you better.

How it lives

When people are over, you don’t want to be running to the kitchen every ten minutes. A long top at the right height means the cheese board, the open bottle and the bowl of crisps have somewhere to go that isn’t the table, and you stay in the room, in the conversation. The cupboards underneath swallow the napkins, the spare glasses and the board games for later.

Allow around four weeks. We deliver across Cork and nationwide in the Republic of Ireland, or you can collect from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Your questions

What fits behind each door?
Each cupboard is about 41.5cm wide, 40.7cm deep and 46.4cm high inside. Dinner plates, serving bowls and glasses all go in comfortably.

Are the shelves adjustable?
Yes, all four.

Will it match the Onda tables?
It’s the same range and the same finish, and the wave on the doors echoes the table bases.

How heavy is it?
About 80kg as packed. Two of you, and a clear hallway.

Does it need fixing to the wall?
An anti-topple kit comes with it, and it’s worth fixing to the wall.
