Oppo Bar Stool Charcoal (Set of 2)

Two charcoal stools, sized for a standard kitchen counter.

The box holds two Oppo stools in charcoal fabric; the measurements below are for one. Their seats sit at 650mm, which is kitchen-counter height rather than bar height, so that’s the number to check first. We’re in Ballincollig, Co. Cork, if you’d like to talk it through.

One stool, measured

In practice: a comfortable gap from seat to counter top is 25 to 30cm, so these want a counter somewhere around 90 to 95cm high, which is where most kitchen worktops sit. On a bar-height counter of 100 to 110cm, these would leave you reaching up to your plate. Along the counter, give each stool 60cm or so of elbow room; two sit easily at a 1.2-metre island.

What they’re made of

• Upholstered foam seat in dark grey (charcoal) polyester fabric
• Oval backrest
• Black metal legs
• The pair ships in a single box (about 13kg packed); you fit the legs

Where they work, and where they don’t

They’re right for a kitchen island or a breakfast counter at standard worktop height, especially where the counter is used for more than coffee. Honestly: if your counter is a raised bar, these are too low; the Palmer stools sit at 75cm. And if the stools go under a counter with only a shallow overhang, remember they’re 52cm deep and will stand out a little into the room.

Living with them

A kitchen stool gets used in short bursts all day: a coffee half-on, half-off it, the post opened, a phone charging beside you while the dinner cooks. Kitchen stools do more hours than any chair in the house. Charcoal is a forgiving colour for that kind of use: it doesn’t shout about crumbs.

Bringing it home

Allow around four weeks for delivery, across Cork and nationwide (Republic of Ireland only). Or collect it from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. Either way, we’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Before you buy

Could I use them at a dining table?
No: at 65cm the seat is far too high for a 75cm table. For the table, the Oppo dining chairs are the same shape with a 48cm seat.

Is charcoal black?
No, it’s a dark grey fabric; the legs are black.

What height counter do they suit?
About 90 to 95cm, standard kitchen worktop height.

Can I mix colours?
Yes. The Oppo stool also comes in green and in a natural fabric, and a pair of each along one island is a nice way to do it.
