Pedra Oval Dining Table Linen

A concrete oval in a pale linen finish, on two pedestal legs.

“It’s two metres of concrete. Will it swallow our room?”

It’s a fair question for a smaller home, and for this Pedra table, one of the concrete pieces we sell in Ballincollig, the answer is in the shape. The Pedra oval is 2,000mm long but only 900mm wide, narrower than many six-seaters, and an oval has no corners to catch you on the way past. Its two pedestal legs stand 680mm apart, well in from the ends, so the people at each end aren’t wrestling a table leg. It seats six. The top is glass reinforced concrete in a pale Linen finish, which keeps something this size looking lighter than it is.

If your room is under about 3.8 by 2.7 metres, this will feel big. Look at the Pedra Round Dining Table Linen instead, which is 1.5 metres across.

Dimensions first

That room size comes from allowing about 90cm behind each chair all the way round. Against a wall on one side, you’ll need less.

Seeing concrete in person

Concrete is worth seeing in person. Ask in the showroom what we have of the Pedra finishes; if the oval itself isn’t out that week, we’ll go through the pedestals and the knee room with you and order it in. Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm. Closed Sundays. No appointment needed; nobody will hurry you. Get directions

Living with concrete

The glass reinforced concrete finish has a subtle texture and natural pitting. That’s the character of the material, not damage, and no two tops are quite the same. Put something under hot pots, and deal with spills promptly, as you would on any natural surface. This is not a table you’ll push aside to hoover under: once it’s in place, it stays.

Getting it in

It comes in three boxes, about 163kg as packed, and it needs full assembly. Talk to us about assembly when you order; we’ll confirm how it’s done for your home. Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Anything else?

Is it real concrete?
It’s GRC, glass reinforced concrete: concrete strengthened with glass fibres, which lets it be cast in organic shapes like this oval.

Can it go outside?
Our information lists it as an indoor table, so we’d keep it indoors.

Linen or Travertine?
Linen is the paler, plainer finish. The Travertine version has a warmer, stone-like look and stands 10mm taller.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
