Solid travertine on a dark mango wood base, round, for four.

“Is a stone top going to be a worry every Sunday?” If you’re picturing gravy and red wine on pale travertine, it’s a fair question, and most people weighing up a stone table in our Ballincollig showroom ask some version of it. The short answer: travertine is a natural stone, it lives well with a bit of care, and the care is simple. The rest of the facts are below.

The Sculpt Round Dining Table has a solid travertine top, 110cm across, set on a base of solid mango wood in a rich, deep finish. It seats four.

Room to pull a chair out

Dimension mm cm
Diameter (width) 1,100 110
Diameter (depth) 1,100 110
Height 730 73

At 73cm it’s a couple of centimetres under the usual dining height, so check your chairs: a seat of around 43–48cm gives a comfortable gap to the table top. Allow about 90cm behind each chair, which puts the whole setting at roughly 2.9 metres across.

Stone, in person

Stone is one of those things you understand better by touch. We can show you the finishes and talk through the sizes in the showroom; ask about the Sculpt and we’ll tell you what’s out that week, and if it isn’t on the floor, we’ll order it in. We’re at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968, 10 minutes from the city. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm. Closed Sundays. No appointment needed; nobody will hurry you. Living with stone and mango wood

Travertine feels cool under the hand and carries the small holes and markings that come with the stone, so no two tops are quite the same. Acidic things (lemon, vinegar, wine) can mark natural stone if they sit, so wipe spills when they happen and keep a mat under hot dishes. None of that is unusual; it’s how most stone tables are lived with. The mango wood base can move very slightly as the heating comes on in autumn, which is normal for solid timber.

The top goes on at home, the only assembly, and the table comes in two boxes weighing around 82kg together, so it’s a two-person job at least.

Delivery

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

More on the Sculpt table

How many does it seat?
Four, with room for a dish in the middle.

Does anything match it?
The Sculpt 4 Door Sideboard is in the same dark mango wood, with curved corners and ball feet.

Will it sit steady on an old floor?
It’s a heavy table, which helps. If the floor slopes, a felt pad under the base sorts a small rock.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
