You’re looking at two Whitehall dining chairs, sold together; each measurement is for a single chair. They’re upholstered in taupe velvet, with a back split down the middle and slim iron legs finished in gold. They suit a smaller home where every piece has a second job, and they come from our showroom in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

One chair, two jobs

In an apartment or a terraced house, the dining table is often the desk as well. So a chair has to look right at dinner and still be something you’d happily stay on through an afternoon of paperwork. The Whitehall works at a dining table or a desk, with an upholstered seat and back and a seat height of 48.5cm.

Velvet brings warmth to a small room without adding bulk, and the gold legs keep the chair looking light. Two is often all a small table needs day to day; add another pair when people call.

Will they fit your table?

Each chair is 55cm wide, so a 120cm round or a 150cm rectangle takes four without anyone knocking knees. Under a 75cm table the seat leaves about 26.5cm, right in the usual range. Leave roughly 90cm clear behind every chair; in a tight room, that clearance matters more than the size of the table.

Tables it sits well with

Taupe and gold are easy company. Three directions that work: pale timber, and the room feels lighter; a dark or black table, for contrast; tinted glass, like our Tivoli, for something warmer. Delivery

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Good to know

How many come in the box? Two chairs; the measurements above are for each.

Will the velvet mark? Velvet pile shows the direction it has been brushed, so you may see lighter and darker patches. That’s normal; smooth it with your hand or a soft brush.

What needs assembling? Just the legs.
