Wishbone-backed chairs in black-stained elm, two to a box.
It started with soup at one o’clock in a house outside Ballincollig. By six the bowls were long cleared, someone had found the cheese, and the chairs had been turned half sideways so people could stretch out and talk across the room. Nobody had planned an evening; it simply arrived.

The 43cm seat is a little lower than many dining chairs, which leaves generous room under a standard table. At 53cm wide, three fit comfortably along a 180cm side.
With the right table
Black wishbone chairs look sharp at a pale oak or white table and quieter at a dark one. Browse our dining tables with that in mind. The same chair comes in natural elm, and the Whitney bar stools come in both, so a mix of black and natural round one table works if you like it looser.
Finding the showroom
Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm, closed Sundays. Much of our dining seating is set out there, and if the Whitney isn’t among it when you call, we can show you the elm and the woven cord and talk you through the rest. Whatever chair you try, stay on it longer than feels polite; that’s how you find out. Get directions

People also ask
What is kraft paper doing on a chair? Paper, spun tight into a cord, then woven seat-wide by hand. It has a little give under you and a texture you notice with your hand.
Does black show dust? A little more than natural does. A dry cloth over the frame when you’re wiping the table sorts it.
Can I mix black and natural at one table? Yes. Same chair, same sizes, so a mix reads as deliberate rather than mismatched.
Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
