Geo Side Table

Pale oak, geometric legs, and a shape that still looks good from the sofa.

Half past nine on a Friday. The lamps are on and the chairs have been pulled round the fire. The Geo is at the end of the sofa with the round top the lamp sits on, and the person who brought the bottle has claimed the floor beside it. Nobody has noticed the legs yet; they will, on the way out.

The Geo is a round side table 45cm across and 55cm high, in oak veneers and white oak solids with a natural matt finish. The round top is echoed in the shaped tops of the legs, which is where the geometry in the name lives. It arrives made up, no assembly, in one box, and weighs 12kg. At 55cm it sits a little above most sofa arms and at a comfortable lamp height, so it can be the drinks table in the evening and the lamp table the rest of the time.

Is the finish matt or lacquered?

A natural matt finish, so the oak looks like oak rather than glass. It is sealed, and a damp cloth is all it needs.

What makes it retro?

The geometry: a round top repeated in the leg tops, which is a mid-century idea done in pale oak. It reads modern in a pale room and retro in a room with colour.

Is it tall enough for a lamp?

Yes. A table lamp on a 55cm table puts the shade around seated eye level, which is the comfortable height for an evening.
