Malvern Extending Dining Table

An oak dining table that opens from 1.5 to 2 metres.

The Malvern Extending Dining Table is oak, oak veneer and rubberwood, 1.5 metres long closed and 2 metres open, for a dining room or a good-sized kitchen. Most of what people ask us about it in Ballincollig comes down to the measurements, and they’re all below.

How big is it, closed and open?

Closed, it’s 1.5 metres long; open, 2 metres. Depth and height stay the same.

For the room, add about 90cm on every side where someone will sit, so chairs can be pulled out. Open, that’s a space of roughly 3.8 by 2.7 metres.

How many does it seat?

Six. With about 60cm of table edge per person, the extra half-metre when it’s open is as much about elbow room and serving dishes as another place: useful on the afternoons that run on into the evening.

Will chairs fit between the legs?

There’s 1,315mm between the legs, open or closed. Two chairs sit easily along each long side; three of the 45cm Malvern chairs would need 1,350mm, just too much. The underside is 712mm from the floor, which is the number to check if your chairs have arms.

How does the extension work?

What’s it made of, and how does it wear?

Oak and oak veneer, with rubberwood and MDF in the build, in a natural finish. It’s a wood table, so it wants mats under hot dishes and a wipe rather than a soak. Timber moves a little with the heating, and small changes through the year are normal.

Does it need putting together?

Only the legs. It comes in one box, about 44kg packed, so it’s a two-person carry.

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collect it from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge; either way, we’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.
