Two metres for six, 2.52 metres when the whole family turns up.

The Milano Extending Dining Table is chevron-inlaid oak and oak veneer, 2 metres long closed and 2.52 metres open, seating six to eight. If the extra-seat question comes up in your house several times a year, start with the room around it: the open table needs more floor than people expect. It’s one of the Milano pieces we sell from Ballincollig.

Measure the room for the open table

Dimension mm cm
Length, closed 2,000 200
Length, extended 2,520 252
Depth 900 90
Height 760 76
Between the legs, closed 1,305 130.5
Between the legs, extended 1,855 185.5

Open, the table plus 90cm at each end for chairs asks for a room about 4.3 metres long; across, 90cm of table plus 90cm on each side comes to 2.7 metres. The distance between the legs grows from 1,305mm to 1,855mm when it opens, so the extra length gives seating along the sides, not just overhang at the ends.

Build and finish

  • Oak and oak veneer, with MDF
  • Chevron inlay in rustic oak veneers, grain and knots showing
  • Matt lacquer finish
  • Seats six to eight
  • Legs to fit; one box, about 53kg packed

Rooms it suits, rooms it doesn’t

It suits a long dining room or an open-plan kitchen with a clear end wall, where the table spends most of the year closed and opens for the days when everyone comes.

In a room under about 3.8 metres long, even the closed table will crowd the chairs; the Milano Dining Table at 1.6 metres, or the Milano Round for four, will sit more easily there.

Talk it through in Ballincollig

What we have out in the showroom changes, so ask about the Milano Extending before you travel if seeing it matters; either way, bring your room measurements and we’ll work out the chairs with you. Living with the extending table

New furniture is stiffer the first few times it’s used, and an extending table is no different; it eases. The timber responds to the heating, and small movement through the year is the timber, not a fault. Mats under hot dishes, and a damp cloth dried off after, will look after the matt lacquer.

Delivery timing

Allow around four weeks. We deliver across Cork and nationwide in the Republic of Ireland, or you can collect from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Before you buy

Six or eight?
It’s listed for six to eight. At about 60cm per place, the extra 52cm when it’s open is where the seventh and eighth come from.

Does the bench go with it?
Yes: the Milano Dining Bench seats two or three along one side, in the same oak and chevron.

Which chairs?
Browse our dining chairs; slimmer chairs make the most of the space between the legs.

Is it solid oak?
Oak and oak veneer over MDF, with the grain and knots of rustic oak showing through.

How heavy is it?
About 53kg packed, in one box. Two people to carry, and only the legs to fit.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
