Southgate Side Table Champagne

Champagne caged metal under glass, and the lamplight has something to catch.

The Southgate is a round side table, 50cm across and 55cm high, with a glass top over a champagne powder-coated caged metal frame. It arrives in two boxes and only the top needs fitting. At 55cm it sits a little above most sofa arms, so a glass set down from an armchair is within reach without a stretch, and it holds a lamp at a sensible height when the overhead light goes off and people settle in.

Dimensions

Is 55cm the right height beside a sofa?

It depends on your sofa. Most sofa arms sit around 45 to 50cm, so at 55cm the Southgate stands a little above the arm: an easy reach for a glass and a good height for a lamp. If you want the top exactly level with the arm, a 45 to 50cm table will suit you better.

What is the top made of?

Glass, over a metal frame with an MDF element in the build. The frame is powder-coated in champagne, a soft warm metallic rather than a bright gold.

Does it need assembly?

Only the top. The caged frame comes made up; you set the top in place.

How do I clean the glass?

A damp cloth and a dry one after it. Avoid abrasive pads on the powder-coated frame.

What goes with it

Pair it by tone: a champagne frame sits well beside a dark sofa or a velvet armchair, and the open cage lets a patterned rug show through. If you prefer a warmer metal, look at the Rothbury Side Table Bronze, which is the same 50cm footprint.
