Lunch was meant to be a sandwich. It’s gone four, somebody has opened another bottle, and the lunch things have been pushed to one end of the island to make room for the cheese. Nobody has moved to the sofa, because moving would break it up.

That’s the afternoon a stool at the counter is really for. The Craft Bar Stool in Mocha belongs to the Craft oak range we sell from Ballincollig: oak and oak-veneered MDF in a deep brown finish, with turned legs, a spindle back and a gently shaped round seat. The seat sits at 65.5cm, which is kitchen-counter height rather than pub-bar height. More on that below.

What Mocha does in a kitchen

Mocha is the darker of the two Craft stool finishes. Against white or pale units it draws a clear outline, so the turned legs and spindles read from across the room. Next to a dark worktop it goes quieter. On a mid-tone oak floor, Mocha reads as a deliberate contrast rather than a near-miss match. The same stool also comes in Natural, if you’d rather it blended in.

Measure the counter first

A 65.5cm seat suits a kitchen counter or island of about 90cm, which leaves roughly 25cm between seat and worktop for your knees. A true bar-height counter, 100–110cm, would leave you sitting low with the worktop up near your chest. Allow about 60cm of counter per stool so nobody is knocking into their neighbour.

From the island to the table

If the island is where lunch starts and the table is where it finishes, the Craft Dining Chair in Mocha carries the same turned legs and spindles to the dining end of the room. For a table, the Craft Dining Table in Smoked keeps things dark and even, while the Craft Extending Dining Table in Natural sets a paler top against the Mocha.

Getting it home

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay. Republic of Ireland only.

A few questions

Is Mocha very dark?
It’s a deep brown. Screens vary a lot, so the colour on yours may look lighter or darker than the stool does in a room. If you’re torn, we can show you both finishes in the showroom.

Is it one stool or two?
One stool. Order as many as your counter has room for.

Does it have a back?
Yes. The spindle back takes the stool to 95cm overall, so check it clears anything that overhangs the counter, like a shelf or an extractor.
