Marble over gold-finished iron, square and heavy, and built to stay where it lands.

The Dorado is a square side table 44cm wide, 44cm deep and 55cm high, with a marble top on an iron frame in a gold finish, with mango veneer and MDF in the build. It arrives in two boxes and needs no assembly. At 42kg it is placed once. At 55cm it sits a little above most sofa arms and takes a lamp and a glass. When the room is full it is the one piece nobody moves and everybody uses.

Measure first

Forty-two kilos in two boxes is a two-person carry, so measure the route first: the front door, the turn of the stairs, the width of the hall. Then the sofa arm. Most sit around 45 to 50cm, so the Dorado's 55cm top stands a little above it, which suits a lamp; if you want the glass exactly level with the arm, the Weston at 50cm is closer.

Why is it so heavy?

The marble top and the iron frame. Weight here is a feature: the table does not rock under a full glass and does not move when it is leaned on.

Is the gold finish bright?

A gold finish on iron, warm rather than mirror-bright. Against white marble it reads as brass-coloured in lamplight.

Does marble stain?

It can take a ring from a wet glass left overnight. Coasters, or a wipe before bed, keep it as it arrived.

What goes with it
