One metre wide, with a drawer, two doors and adjustable shelves behind them.

The smaller of the two Highgrove sideboards suits a home where every piece has to do more than one job: sideboard, drinks shelf, a drawer for the post and hall table in one. Here are the questions people ask about it, answered from the measurements; we can talk the finish through with you at our Ballincollig showroom.

How big is it on the outside?

Dimension mm cm
Width 1,000 100
Depth 475 47.5
Height 950 95
Clearance to floor 170 17

It stands on legs, 17cm off the floor, so check your skirting board: a deep one pushes the sideboard forward from the wall by its own thickness.

What fits in the drawer?

Inside, the drawer measures 85cm wide, 42.3cm deep and 12.8cm high. That’s cutlery, napkins, placemats and the candles that are never where you left them.

And behind the doors?

One cupboard, 85cm wide, 42.3cm deep and 53cm high inside, with adjustable shelves. Stacked plates, serving bowls, a tall vase: set the shelves to suit what you actually own.

What’s the finish, and the handles?

Mindi solids and veneer over MDF in the Peroba finish, a warm mid-brown, with marquetry detailing, lacquered legs and bronze beehive pull handles. Timber and veneer move a little with the heating, so a door may feel slightly different in January than in June; that’s normal.

Will it tip if a child pulls the drawer?

An anti-topple kit is included, and it’s worth fixing to the wall, especially with small children in the house.

Is there assembly?

Only the legs. It comes in one box of about 56kg, so two people for getting it in.

What goes with it?

In a smaller room, the Highgrove round extending table is the natural partner. With more space, the Highgrove extending table carries the same finish.
