Highgrove Coffee Table

Book-matched marquetry under the glasses, and a sensible 45cm height.

The fire is lit, someone has opened a bottle, and four of you have settled into the sitting room before anyone mentions dinner. The glasses go down on the Highgrove, where the inlaid pattern catches the lamplight between them.

The Highgrove is a 90cm round coffee table in natural mindi wood, solid and veneered, with book-matched marquetry inlaid in the top and lacquered legs. It's 45cm high, a little higher than many coffee tables, which puts it close to sofa-seat level: easier for setting down a glass and for passing plates. It has a 'new traditional' look, classic in shape with a lighter, modern touch.

What is book-matched marquetry?

Veneers cut in sequence and laid as mirror images, so the grain pattern opens out like the pages of a book. It's set into the top as a decorative panel.

Is 45cm too tall for a coffee table?

It's on the higher side, which many people like for drinks and for eating from. If your sofa seat is very low, a 40cm table may sit better.

Does it come in a darker wood?

The Madison Coffee Table is the same size with dark wood and its own inlaid marquetry, if you'd prefer a deeper tone.

What assembly is there?

Legs or feet only. One box, 21.7kg packed.

What goes with it

The Highgrove family includes the Highgrove Side Table, the Highgrove Drum Side Table and the Highgrove Demi Lune Table, all in the same mindi and marquetry. For the darker version, see the Madison Coffee Table.
