Monte Cristo Rattan Bed

The Monte Cristo bed in rattan, for a room that wants some texture.

The Monte Cristo Rattan Bed is the frame the rest of the Monte Cristo bedroom is built around. It comes in two sizes, a 5′ King and a 6′ Super King, both 216cm long overall with the head end standing 130cm tall, so it reads as a proper bed against the wall rather than a mattress on a base.

There is a fabric version of the same frame too. The rattan one is for a room that already has plenty of plain surfaces and could do with something woven.

Which mattress does it take?

The 5′ King takes a 150 × 200cm mattress and the 6′ Super King takes 180 × 200cm. The frame is wider and longer than the mattress all round, so measure the room against the overall sizes in the table, not the mattress.

Will it fit my room?

Allow the overall footprint plus about 60cm down each side to get in and out, and a clear path at the foot. The 6′ is 197cm wide overall, which suits a larger main bedroom.

Rattan or fabric?

Only you can tell what the room needs. Rattan brings texture and a lighter look; the fabric version looks softer and plainer.

What goes with it. The rest of the range: the 3 drawer bedside and 1 drawer bedside either side, the 6 drawer chest for the opposite wall, and a Mulberry mattress to finish it.

If you’d like to talk the room through before you choose, Paul and the team are in the showroom at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm; closed Sundays; no appointment. Get directions.

Delivery. The 5′ King is due December 2026; the 6′ Super King is due end of October 2026, so allow longer than our usual four weeks for those sizes. It can be delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

The mattress

The frame is half the bed. The Mulberry Mattress Range is five mattresses, made in Ireland for us, from Softer to Firmer, and all five are side by side in the showroom in Ballincollig. Lie before you buy. If you’d rather be pointed at one, Find your Mulberry asks a few questions first, and the Mulberry Mattress journey shows how they’re made.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
