The Bar Stool Look Book
This story starts at the kitchen counter...

Everyone Ends Up in the Kitchen. Give Them Somewhere to Sit.
Four pairs of stools, four prices, one measurement that decides the lot. Measure your counter first; the rest is taste.
Every bar and counter stoolWhatever the size of the house, the kitchen is where people stand, lean and talk while somebody else stirs the pot. A pair of stools at the counter turns standing into staying. The question I am asked most about stools is not which one looks best. It is whether they will fit, and that is the right question.
Every pair here has a seat between 65 and 67.5 centimetres off the floor. That suits a standard kitchen counter of around 90 to 95 centimetres, leaving roughly 25 centimetres between seat and worktop for knees and elbows. A taller bar counter of 100 to 110 centimetres wants a taller stool; measure before you fall for a shape. Then choose on feel: upholstered and soft, rattan and light, woven paper cord and wishbone, or brown leather on oak.
Build the look

Oppo Bar Stool Natural (Set of 2)
Oval back, natural fabric, black metal legs. 44cm wide, so three fit along a 1.8m counter with room to pass a plate.

Cafe Bar Stool Oak/Rattan (Set of 2)
Cross back, curved legs, hand-woven rattan seat on an oak frame. Both come in one box, ready to use.

Whitney Bar Stool Natural (Set of 2)
Wishbone back in natural elm with a seat hand-woven from paper cord. The lightest-looking of the four.

Tarnby Bar Stool Brown Leather (Set of 2)
Brown leather on softly angled oak legs. The tallest seat of the four, so best at the upper end of a 90–95cm counter.
Every price on this page is for a pair of stools and includes VAT. Measurements on each product page are for one stool.
Each link adds that pair to your basket; nothing is paid for until you check out.
Allow about 60 centimetres of counter per stool, and check what is under the worktop: a kickboard, a dishwasher door or a radiator can steal the knee room you are counting on.
Two stools, one kettle, and nobody leaves early.
Ask about any stool in this look book and we will tell you which ones are out in the showroom that week, show you the finishes, and talk through the heights.
