Dove velvet, brass studs and a 49cm seat: the Highgrove chair in figures.

The Highgrove dining chair comes as a pair, in Dove velvet with brass stud detailing, on oak legs in a weathered finish. Sizes are for one chair, because a chair has to fit the table before it fits anything else. The Highgrove finishes and sizes are easy to go through with us in our Ballincollig showroom.

Dimension mm cm
Width 460 46
Depth 640 64
Height 920 92
Seat height 490 49
Seat width 460 46
Seat depth 440 44

What that means in the room: a 49cm seat sits right at a table of about 75cm, with a comfortable gap for knees. At 64cm deep, the chair takes a little more floor than most, so allow the usual 90cm behind it and then a bit, especially where the table sits close to a wall or a run of units.

How it’s put together

  • Oak legs, weathered finish
  • Plywood frame under the upholstery
  • Polyester velvet cover in Dove, over foam
  • Brass stud detailing
  • Legs only to fit; both chairs in one box

Where it earns its place, and where it might not

At a table where people stay put long after the meal, a padded, upholstered chair is the one they’re glad of. It also belongs to the same range as the Highgrove extending table and the round extending table, so a matched set is straightforward.

Where it might not: a narrow galley kitchen with a table pushed against a wall. A 64cm-deep chair wants space around it. If that’s your room, measure the gap from table edge to wall before anything else.

Before you decide

Visit us at Heritage Walk, The Quadrants, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, P31 W968 and try a range of our dining chairs for seat height and depth; if the Highgrove isn’t among them that week, we can order it in once we’ve talked it through. Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–5pm. Closed Sundays. No appointment needed, and nobody will hurry you. Get directions

Living with velvet

Velvet has a pile, and the pile lies in whichever direction it was last brushed. You’ll see lighter and darker patches where people have sat or run a hand across it, especially in the first weeks. That’s the nature of the fabric, not wear, and a light brush with your hand in one direction evens it out. Oak legs may move very slightly as the heating comes on and off; that’s timber being timber.

How they get to you

Allow around four weeks. Delivered across Cork and nationwide, or collected from the showroom in Ballincollig at no charge. We’ll confirm your delivery date before you pay.

Questions, answered

What colour is Dove?
A soft, light neutral. Screens vary, so if the exact shade matters, email us before you order and we’ll describe it as closely as we can.

Are the studs real brass?
Brass is listed among the materials for the studs.

Do they match the Highgrove sideboards?
They’re from the same range. The three-door sideboard and two-door sideboard carry the mid-brown finish.

Is there much to assemble?
Only the legs.

Any question, any at all: email info@mulberryhouse.ie and a person in the showroom will answer it.
